I'm finally 21!!!

For those of you who are dying to know everything I've had to drink today: apple juice and a Dublin Dr Pepper. Exciting right?

I've spent all day at work serving up cheerios and goldfish, warming up bottles, changing diapers, picking up Legos, wiping snotty noses, washing sippy cups and entertaining crying toddlers... and that's just the half of it. I love my new job though. It's so much better than the last several jobs I've had, plus decent pay and good hours. And for every not-so-cute kid that comes in there's three that are adorable. I have to say, I've become a master at distracting kids. I can conquer any crying toddler. At times that means resorting to putting on an Elmo costume, plugging in a cassette tape of the Wiggles and dancing like an idiot around the room... but hey, whatever works. Four babies crying all at once can be maddening, you would do it too if it got them to shut up.

Anyway, back to my birthday... I'm still trying to find something fun to do this summer to celebrate. I want to find and fun concert to go to, preferably Jack Ingram, Cory Morrow or Cross Canadian Ragweed. Whoever wants to come is invited, the more the merrier. I'm still looking at concert dates and trying to find something that works with my schedule. If you have any ideas, let me know... I'm open to suggestions.

TWO MORE DAYS TIL MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I think I reformat this thing more than I post on it. My life has been really crazy this semester. I'm currently at one of my 4-8am desk shifts. I think I hate this shift a little more every week. But other than that, the whole RA thing is going pretty well.

I absolutely HATE my classes this semester. The whole lunch table got to hear me go off about that yesterday. But who do you complain to when your incompetent professor is the head of the department? Language Development.... it makes me insane. It doesn't sound complicated, I know, that's the problem. It shouldn't be complicated, the material isn't that hard, but our professors do whatever they can to make it as difficult as possible. That's right, I said professors. To begin, we have three different professors for one class and they all take turns teaching. One of those is the head of the department who has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. This is apparent in the fact that when we ask him to clarify what he means or to explain in further detail, all he does is repeat exactly what he just said. If it didn't make sense the first time it isn't gonna make sense the second or third or tenth time. Then when the whole class fails the quiz with an average score of a 42, he goes off on us and how we need to ask more questions if we don't understand. But don't worry, we all know plenty about how he's Mormon, has 9 children and how one of his 8 sisters is an excellent deaf ed teacher; but that stuff's not on the quiz. This is the kind of stuff that makes me wonder if I will ever make it to graduation.

I have come to the conclusion that the only valuable skills that I will learn in college are how to BS, multi-task, and survive on less than 8 hours of sleep a week.

It's 6:30am, I'm at the Guinn front desk. I've been here since 4am and I can't leave til 8am. My eyes are burning, my back is hurting, I am really tired. I'm listening to my new Miranda Lambert CD for the fourth time in a row. I haven't slept for longer than 4 hours at a time all week which has made me very cranky. I apologize to anyone who has had to deal with my crankiness this week, hopefully it's temporary.

On the postive side, Rush week is going really well. We've got an awesome group of girls rushing this semester. I'm really excited about how things are going for ATO. We had 80's night on Tuesday, it was really fun. Everyone dressed up so cute, we got some pretty funny looks at CiCi's, it was awesome.(pictures coming soon on Facebook and Myspace). Tonight we're going bowling, that should be interesting. I'm pretty consistantly bad at bowling, but it's always fun. Then we have the slumber party on Friday and bid night on Saturday. Sunday, I'm SLEEPING ALL DAY and it's gonna be fabulous.
